The Arizona Department of Education has issued guidance, a template and a FAQ for schools interested in using this flexibility. The bill provides flexibility to schools in meeting statutory instructional time requirements, including a pathway for schools to provide remote instruction without an approved AOI. UPDATE: HB 2862 was signed by the Governor on April 28, 2021. Districts that are already approved as an AOI do not need to apply again. We offer a variety of models, ranging from fully immersive in-person learning to full-time digital programs. Charter Schools should contact the State Board for Charter Schools. ASU Preparatory Academy is an innovative public charter school network, serving more than 7,000 full-time students from Pre-K to grade 12. The window for the 2024-25 school year will open July 2023. The deadline to submit an application was November 1, 2022. The window for school districts to apply for an AOI for the 2023-2024 school year is now closed. The State Board of Education approves district AOI programs.Ĭharter schools should contact the State Board for Charter Schools at: §15-808 allows approved school districts and charter schools to develop online instructional systems to expand learning opportunities for students throughout our state. My last problem would be with the programs strictness in how it locks you out if you don't meet a progress goal on time, as locking you out just stunts your progress even more. The Arizona Online Instruction (AOI) Program established in A.R.S. I also think that easier ways to communicate with other online students would be helpful although I never found a problem with the independence, it'd just be a nice feature to have. I do wish that because MDLP is an online school, they would provide more college resources or direct to other college readiness programs, as I've had nobody to remind me or walk me through anything college related. There was one course in which the lessons were setup terribly and the assignments had no diversity, but I only had this problem with that single course. I've completed 9 courses through this program in total, and the majority of them were setup very nicely and I didn't have any problems learning from them. Senior: I really enjoy this type of online school as there are no live classes and are therefore very fluid in structure. Nevertheless, iSchool has improved my work ethic and I have enjoyed my school year for the most part so far. I like how we can use our handwritten notes for our finals however, I do not like how they make us come to school to take them.

This is a pain when trying to schedule a discussion-based assessment or a final. Communication with the teachers is often difficult due to the fact that some take weeks to answer emails and some do not even answer them at all. I am not a big fan of doing them because they can be stressful to prepare for and they are usually pretty awkward. There are also discussion-based assessments for each module, so there is an interactive aspect for those who want to communicate with their teachers face to face. It is nice how there are different ways we can learn, from watching a video or completing an interactive lesson. Junior: I like how I am able to work at my own pace! Because of this, I am graduating a year early as a junior.
